The Second Saturday Series will feature organist, Sean Coburn O’Neal, on August 14 at 4 PM. Sean is a frequent recitalist, both locally and around the United States. He is also a pipe organ builder with the Long Beach-based firm O'Neal, David & Associates; is the accompanist for the Cal State University Long Beach 49'er Chorus; and is the Director of Music and Organist/Choirmaster at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Covina, CA.

The program on August 14 will include music by Ottorino Respighi, J.S. Bach, Craig Phillips, Felix Mendelssohn, Herbert Howells, and Charles-Marie Widor. A reception will be held in the courtyard following the concert allowing everyone to meet the artist.

The organ is a 150-rank Colby-Harrah symphonic organ. It utilizes a hybrid configuration of wind-blown pipe work and digital technology on four manuals.

The Second Saturday Series is a free community concert held the second Saturday of each month in the Glendale City Seventh-day Adventist Church sanctuary. A freewill offering will be received.

Future concerts will feature strings on September 11 and Glendale City Church Organist in Residence, Kemp Smeal, on October 9.

In planning church events or meeting appointments, please note that the room which has for many years been known as the Youth Center is now called the Multipurpose Room. The youth will be getting their own room, which will be called the Youth Room. 

We are still experiencing a slight problem with pest control. Please make certain to clean up after facility use and put away all food in fridges or discard immediately in the outside dumpster (located in chapel parking lot).

On Sabbath, June 19, Dave Ferguson was the recipient of this year's church medallion in appreciation of his ongoing supportive work for Glendale City Church, as well as for serving currently as president of the congregation's Endowment Corporation. The medallion was presented to him by Dr. Vincent Haynes, Church Board Chair, and Leif Lind, Church Administrator.

Gladys Golay celebrated her 100th birthday April 20. On April 23 Glendale City Church members celebrated the life of this woman who has now served City Church faithfully in so many crucial ways. A dinner party was thrown and the Loma Linda Academy Consort performed afterwards in her honor.
